
There is a small roofless burial aisle at the east end of the church, with datestone 159_ . Session home and stable c1830. Mausoleum of Johnstone Stewarts of Physgill and Glasserton. The head of a cross of possible late 10th century date was found about 1890 at the stone base of the pulpit, when renovating the church interior. Another late 10th century cross from Glasserton is in the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.
Diocese of Galloway, deanery of Farines. Both parsonage and vicarage were annexed to Whithorn Priory by c1473, the cure being a vicarage pensionary.
Originally of 17th century origin, the current church was built in 1732 by William Lahwoor, mason and Patrick Dunlop, wright. On its west gable is a 17th century belfry said to have come from Kirkmaiden. The north aisle and Gothic tower were added in 1836-7 by JB Papworth. The interior is of 1891, by David Hendry.
