West of the church is a headstone of Alexander McMurray (1760s). There is also an 18th century headstone of Alexander Crackan.
Diocese of Galloway, deanery of Rhinns. Described as a parsonage in Bagimond, the church remained unapropriated at the reformation. The patronage was disputed between MacDowell of Fregh and MacDowell of Garthland in 1547, the latter eventually successful. The parish of Stoneykirk was united with the parishes of Clayshant and Toskerton in 1618.
Current church built in 1827, probably on the site of the earlier medieval church, with alterations by John B Wilson from 1901-2. Bell dated 1602.
